Good mental health is key to health and happiness — yet we all face the potential of having a mental health issue at some point in life.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is here to help you understand and work through your mental health needs through confidential, personalized treatment and support through our services:
Are you experiencing behavioral, emotional or mental health issues that are affecting your academic or personal life? At CAPS, we offer a wide variety of programs and services to help.
We offer objective and non-judgmental individual counseling to support you in your life and educational journey. Students access counseling for a wide variety of academic and non-academic reasons.
Our crisis counselor is on-call 24/7 to support mental health emergencies; we also offer referral services for mental health needs requiring inpatient hospitalization or outpatient therapy.
We’re committed to building campus-wide awareness/understanding of mental health issues from sexual identity crisis and substance abuse to depression, anxiety, eating disorders and suicidal thoughts.
When a student needs help for a mental health or substance abuse problem, it’s often first noticed by someone in the RISD community. Our CAPS staff provides confidential support and assistance.
