One of the oldest practices for the cultivation of peace of mind is the practice of meditation, using a method called mindfulness. Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. It is a core principle derived from Buddhism that teaches us to live in the present moment. Focusing on breath can be a vehicle to help calm and focus the mind. It is a simple but profound truth that the only moment available for us to live, is this moment, right here and right now. Such bare attention and practice can help us to generate inner calm and resilience to cope with the rigors of everyday life.
